It’s Record Store Day week – eeeep! As a break from my current RSD posts’ i’m going to post some tracks i’m listening to this week.
All 3 of my songs this week are old ones but songs I love to listen to for different reasons.
First of all the iconic Miley Cyrus – River. Her latest album ‘Endless Summer Vacation’ was for me a non-skip album and it was one of my most listened to albums of last year. I bought it on vinyl and I loved the Disney + special dedicated to the release (Endless Sumer Vacation (Backyard Sessions)). I’ve always been a huge Miley Cyrus fan, I think it’s the millenial in me who has grown up with her throughout her Hannah Montana days into the singer/ songwriter she is now which makes me such a big fan. There are so many good tracks to choose from Miley, however I went with ‘River’ as it’s so catchy and I love to put it on before I go on a night out. It celebrates being in love and I am here for it!
Enjoy singing it and try and resist not to dance during the chorus.
Blossoms are up next with “There’s a Reason Why (I Never Returned Your Calls)”. Blossoms are one of my favourite bands, i’ve been to see them live many times at both festivals and on tour. I first saw them at No.6 Festival (it was in Portmerion, such a good music festival but it’s stopped running now) and I have been a fan ever since. I’ll definitely be writing a post about Blossoms (& talking about their podcast which you must listen to if you haven’t already) in the future but for now I thought i’d share my favourite track of theirs. On their instagram they often post behind the scenes of writing their new songs (and old ones) with them showing clips of them recording their brand new album. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long for the release.
They’re playing Wythenshawe Park on Sunday 25th August with supporting acts from Inhaler, Shed Seven and more. You can get tickets for the gig here.
Finally I have discovered the amazing Troye Sivan (years too late ,I know). I need to listen to more of his tracks but I have his tracks ‘One of Your Girls’ and ‘Got Me Started’ on repeat. On ‘One of Your Girls’ it’s the synthesised vocals and harmonies that I love about the song. It’s catchy and I love his music videos. I look forward to hearing more of his music and giving his past discography a listen.
Anyway those are my 3 tracks i’m listening to this week. After my record store day preparation I need to listen to some new artists for next week. If you have any recommendations make sure to comment below.
