What I’m Listening To This Week

Happy bank holiday weekend everyone! Here are some tracks i’m listening to this week that deserve to be on your playlist:

This song is deep and is so damn catchy. The lyrics: “And I’m here and I’m fading /You’re wrong for waiting/ And it’s cruel to let you love me/ I don’t want what I need gives me the CHILLS. This collaboration is between Blondshell and Bully is one to be played on repeat. Blondshell is playing Band On The Wall in Manchester on the 1st July. Get tickets here.
Oh HELLO new band “Good Neighbours” who have appeared on my Spotify playlists this week. Their latest single “Keep it Up” reminds me of the nostalgic sound of Passion Pit, taking me back to Leeds Festival and realising indie doesn’t have to be just a heavy guitar beat. Good Neighbours have only released two tracks so far, “Keep it Up” and “Home” so be sure to check them out as I’m hoping there is going to be more released in the not so distant future.
This Friday (31st May) we see the release of The Marías second album “Submarine”. I have only just discovered this band so I’m excited to hear their new album and see if it’s as good as the track “Run Your Mouth” that I can’t stop playing on repeat. The beginning reminds me of BANKS and I think that’s what caught my attention to the band (if you’ve read my previous blog post about BANKS you will know why I adore her sound). The Marías are following their album release with a tour, eventually landing in Manchester in November. Be sure to buy tickets to see them here.
Ok I know this isn’t a new track and yes it is a bit of a miserable ballad but this is my favourite Nelly Furtado track (I just like as a sad song as much as Adele what can I say?). I find Furtado’s work, aside from her collaborations with Timberland, are underrated and this song didn’t get the airplay I felt it deserved (or not everyone loves a miserable sad song as much as me). Anyway the reason I’m mentioning Furtado is because she’s recently performed her Tiny Desk Concert and she is a vibe throughout the whole performance (don’t worry she doesn’t perform this track, it’s much more of an upbeat setlist). She is in it for the music and the performance so I highly recommend to watch it, which you can do by clicking here.

Have a great bank holiday weekend,
