Gig Season Has Arrived

Autumn is my favourite time of year because after all of the summer festivals the cooler season arrives and it brings musicians to tour around the country. I always associate autumn with going to gigs and I always love looking at different venues to see who is touring.
So i’ve made a list of a range of artists i’d love to go and see. I’ve linked all of the Manchester dates, some are sold out (but are worth checking for the odd release of tickets) but most still have availability. Have fun looking and let me know if you’re going to any of the below! (I’ve listed the acts in order of nearest gig first).

Australian rock band Ocean Alley went viral earlier this year when their song “Confidence” became a hit on TikTok. They’re a really cool band and they have a few tickets left for their upcoming gig at Manchester’s Victoria Warehouse on Friday 20th September which you can buy here or you can check out their other tour dates.

Neighbourhood Festival is coming to Manchester on Saturday 5th October with loads of great acts playing in the city. Including Chloe Slater, Antony Szmierek, Good Neighbours and Pale Waves headlining. The festival is split across many music venues across Manchester including Manchester Academy, Albert Hall, YES, Gorilla, The Refuge and loads more. You can buy tickets here and it’s sure to be an amazing day! More information about the festival can be found here.

Maximo Park are playing New Century Hall on Sunday October 13th and there are still tickets available! I’d love to be able to see Maximo Park especially at this venue, the Saturday night has sold out but i’d be very tempted for the Sunday. Buy tickets here.

Nina Nesbitt is performing at Manchester Academy 3 on Thursday 17th October. She’s an amazing performer, I saw her at Benicassim fesival over a decade ago and i’d love to see her again. She’s going on tour to play her upcoming album release “Mountain Music” that she’s releasing on her own record label Apple Tree Records. Buy tickets to see her here.

Indie American band Wallows are going on tour after the success of their album “Model” which was released earlier this year. I’ve already written up about my love of Wallows and how i’d love to see them live with hits “Calling After Me”, “Your Apartment” and “Remember When” always on repeat on my Spotify playlists. They’re playing Manchester Victoria Warehouse on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th October with tickets available on both nights. Buy tickets for the Sunday night here.

Lava La Rue is playing Manchester’s Academy 3 on Wednesday October 30th her first tour after releasing her debut album “Starface” that was released back in July. You can buy tickets here.

I’ve written about her a few times on the blog already but of course I had to mention about Rachel Chinouriri going on her first headline tour since releasing her debut album “What a Devastating Turn Of Events” earlier this year. Rachel is gaining more and more coverage with her tour already selling out (I know but I couldn’t not mention her) and she’s been announced as supporting Sabrina Carpenter on their arena tour next year. So if like me, you’d love to see her live keep checking for tickets to her gig at Manchester’s Gorilla on Sunday 10th November here. Until then I’ll just keep re-watching live Youtube videos.

Griff is playing Manchester’s Academy on Tuesday 12th November and there are still tickets available! Griff is going on a huge tour this autumn after releasing her debut album “Vertigo” this summer. I’ve never seen Griff live but I love her pop sound and her songs. Buy tickets to see her this November here.

Our newest Mercury Prize Winners English Teacher are going on tour this Autumn despite playing lots of gigs earlier this year to coincide their release of their album “This Could Be Texas” they are not stopping on the tour circuit. It’s no surprise their gig at the O2 Ritz on Thursday 14th November is sold out but I always like to have a look the weeks before to check if any tickets become available. You can try your luck for tickets here.

I’m obsessed with Ravyn Lenae’s latest pop single “Genius” from her album “Birds Eye” that was released last month. She’s playing Manchester Gorilla on Tuesday 19th November and there are somehow still tickets, make sure to snap them up here as I’m sure it’ll soon be sold out.

I’m a HUGE We Are Scientists fan and I always love to see them live. They’re a great indie band and so it’s no surprise their gig at Manchester Academy 2 on Thursday 21st November is currently sold out…. but like I say you never know some tickets might pop up before the event so it’s worth having a look or checking out their other dates, they still have tickets available at Sheffield and Leeds. If you want to try your luck for Manchester you can do so here.

We all saw Confidence Man at Glastonbury didn’t we? If not make sure you check the Australian dance act right away. As someone who doesn’t rush to listen to dance music I LOVED their dance set, I think the energy they brought to the stage left me mesmerized by them and I would love to see them live! Their Manchester dates at Manchester Academy are sold out but there are still tickets available for Leeds and Birmingham. Check out all of their tour dates here as it’s sure to be a great night to brighten the winter evenings.

Kate Nash’s latest album “9 Sad Symphonies” has been one of my favourite album’s of 2024 and I’d love to be able to see her at Manchester’s New Century Hall on November 26th. You’ll remember Kate Nash for her most famous single “Foundations” but I’d highly recommend listening to 9 Sad Symphonies before going to see her as it is a masterpiece! Make sure to get tickets before it sells out here.
