Coming out of the music rock i’ve been hiding under

Happy Sunday evening!

This week i’ve been trying to discover new bands and listen to new music. I bought a copy of Rolling Stone magazine and decided to research some of the bands who have been interviewed and who I haven’t heard of before.
I’ll be honest the two bands i’m going to mention below have been on the music circuit a while now and it’s made me realise I need to creep out of the rock i’ve been hiding under and actually get back into listening to the new, exciting bands who are appearing in the UK.

I started with the Last Dinner Party who released their debut album, Prelude to Ecstasy, at the beginning of the month. They have a really big hype around them at the moment and it’s clear to see why. My favourite songs on their album are:
Caesar on a TV Screen, Sinner & Nothing Matters. Give them a listen and let me know what you think.

Another band interviewed in the magazine are Yard Act who release their second album, Where’s My Utopia?, this Friday. The Leeds band are definitely one to watch, with their debut album The Overload being nominated for The Mercury Prize in 2022. They’ve already featured on the Jimmy Fallon Show a few weeks ago performing their new single “We Make Hits.”

I feel as though there will be more to post about Yard Act in the upcoming weeks once I’ve heard the new album.

Anyway that’s really it for me for this week, I’ve been listening to the Snuts and trying to figure out what i’m buying for Record Store Day 2024 so more on that in the weeks to come.

What new bands or singers have you been listening to?

Thanks for reading,
Beth
