Avril Lavigne has been around for 22 years and her music is still one of my favourites to listen to. Her first three albums are still albums I listen to on repeat, providing instant nostalgia and memories of growing up listening to her music.
Most people remember Avril Lavigne as the skater girl who presented top hits such as “Complicated” and “Sk8r Boi” to us at the very start of her career. However she wrote some of the best acoustic guitar songs on her debut album ‘Let Go’ (listen to “Mobile”, “Things I’ll Never Say” and “Anything But Ordinary”) following it up with her second album ‘Under My Skin’ which provided further heartbreak tracks (“Don’t Tell Me”, “My Happy Ending” and “Fall To Pieces”).
Her third album, ‘The Best Damn Thing’, saw her evolve into a pop-punk princess by wearing pink hair clips and providing my favourite album of hits (See “Girlfriend”, “Hot” and “The Best Damn Thing”). I think as an artist, she gets slept on by those who are not aware of the great album tracks and fun pop hits she has.
The reality for me is Avril Lavigne has provided some of my favourite ballads, love songs and pop hits. I just wish more people would give her music catalogue a listen.
Now excuse me whilst I grab my eyeliner and doc martens before I blast her songs on repeat once again.
